Happy Pride Month, John. 🏳️🌈
I know that the anxiety and fear within our community feels heightened this year with attacks from every direction, but I’m determined to make this a joyful month — and I hope you’ll join me. This month and every month, I’m surrounding myself with people who love and believe in me.
I’m fighting in Congress to finally pass the Equality Act. It’s time we codify basic protections for the LGBTQ+ community into federal law.

Being the first LGBTQI+ member of Congress from Vermont, I’ve always been a champion for our community’s civil rights.
Representation in politics does matter. I hear it all the time in my conversations with younger people across Vermont. And representation in politics is what allows us to write better legislation that reflects and protects all Americans.
We know whenever we make progress, the backlash comes. We are in the backlash. Donald Trump and his administration have already launched over 200 attacks that target the LGBTQ+ community. I’ll never stop fighting back against their hate, John.
We must pass the Equality Act to expand federal civil rights protections for LGBTQ+ Americans at a time when they’ve never been more at stake.

Please try to hold on to things that bring you joy and lightness this month.
Don’t let the haters get you down. I’m certainly not.
