Dear John,

This Pride Month, we remember that resistance has always shaped the path
to freedom. In June 1969, a small bar in New York City became the site
of a major turning point in American history. The Stonewall uprising
wasn't just about LGBTQ+ rights, it was about dignity, resistance, and
the right to live free from fear.

Many of those on the front lines were Black and Brown trans and queer
people who are often most targeted by systems of oppression, and most
committed to transforming them. As legendary activist Marsha P. Johnson
once said,

"No pride for some of us without liberation for all of us."

That's the spirit we carry into this Pride Month, and moves with us into
Juneteenth, as we commemorate Black freedom and the unfinished work of
racial equity. Juneteenth reminds us that even after freedom was
promised, justice is something we must continue to fight for, together.

Our fearless staff have been busy this year defending racial equity in
local governments across the country, standing with educators fighting
to keep public schools inclusive and honest, and supporting organizers
and movement leaders shaping a future rooted in justice. Race Forward

to build resilience and reshape narratives that hold the potential to
change systems.

In this time of coordinated attacks on civil rights, it is clear that
none of our struggles are separate. Our movements are strongest when
they are united in the belief that we all deserve to thrive .
