Fraudsters frequently use price gouging, phony charities, or home repair scams to exploit victims of natural disasters. Research charities, avoid pressure tactics, and verify credentials to protect yourself from bad actors.

Scammers try to steal money or personal info by impersonating government agencies via calls, texts, or emails. They may offer fake grants or demand immediate payment. Legitimate organizations won't call you out of the blue to ask for payment in the form of cryptocurrency or gift cards.

Attorney General Dana Nessel launched a redesigned Elder Abuse Task Force webpage to help Michiganders recognize, report, and prevent elder abuse.
