A Seattle Times columnist, Danny Westneat, recently wrote a piece about me, implying that it's futile to call out the corrupt power grab that’s happening in D.C.

I really appreciate the good reporting that Mr. Westneat does, but I disagree. I believe that's exactly what Trump wants: to create a sense of apathy that silences critics.

I got my start in politics speaking up to save my kids' preschool program. If I hadn’t spoken up all those years ago, my kids' preschool program would have been defunded. If we don’t all speak up against Trump today, we might not have a democracy in the future.

I had the opportunity to respond on the Seattle Times' opinion page myself.
