Pat has been thinking a lot about how Democrats can meet the moment that we’re in: how we push back against Trump in the short term, reclaim what it means to be patriotic, and also develop a long term vision for our country that the American people can believe in. It’s about building something that lasts long after Trump is out of office.

For Pat, that means putting aside the idea of conservative or liberal or progressive or moderate.

It’s not progressive or moderate.

For a lot of people it’s not even about D or R.

It’s about working for change. Instead of preserving the status quo.

It’s being for the people instead of for yourself. Service instead of self-interest.

At the end of the day, what this moment requires of us is staying ruthlessly focused on the people and standing up to anyone – greedy corporations, corrupt politicians, etc. – who would do them harm.

That’s the example Pat is setting for elected officials on both sides of the aisle. He will not stop banging the drum to hold Republicans accountable for their reckless agenda and to hold Democrats’ feet to the fire in how they’re stepping up and FIGHTING for the American people at this moment.
