Friend,
With today being the last day of school for many students across Florida, a fun-filled summer break is on the way— we want to make sure it’s a safe one as well.
As kids are back home for the summer, it can be helpful to double-check that all firearms are stored safely and out of reach for children. It’s also just as important to talk to your children about what they should and shouldn’t do if they come across an unsecured firearm. Keeping them safe can be as easy as 1, 2, 3:
- Do not touch the gun.
- Do not let your friends touch it.
- Go get an adult.
These three simple steps can help prevent a tragedy and keep your children, your grandchildren, and their friends safe. Gena Hoyer, a Stand with Parkland founder who lost her son Luke in the Parkland school massacre, explains more about these three steps in the video below.

With students headed for Summer and school safety legislation moving forward across the country, there’s never been a more important time to support the critical work of Stand with Parkland.
We’ve made great progress at the national, state, and local levels, but we still have so much work to do to keep students safe at school and at home. If you support safe schools and want to help us continue our important work, please consider a donation and chip in today.
Let’s ensure the safety of every child this Summer.
