Summer just got done grilling Trump’s Education Secretary, Linda McMahon,
on the administration’s assault on our public education and attempt to
erase Black history from our textbooks…humiliating is an understatement.
Today, in the Education & Workforce Committee that Summer sits on,
bumbling Secretary of Education Linda McMahon, best known for her work in
the World Wrestling Federation came to explain the Education Department’s
“priorities” under Donald Trump.
But we already know what those priorities are: defunding and shutting down
the Dept. of Education.

Summer wasn’t going to let Secretary McMahon come to Congress without
exposing her lies and holding this administration accountable for their
war on public education.
While this right-wing extremist Dept. of Education tries to ban anything
they consider “illegal DEI,” Summer asked McMahon what exactly that would
include. Here’s some of the things that Linda McMahon couldn’t confirm or
deny is “illegal DEI”:
* Joe Biden winning the 2020 election
* The Tulsa race massacre
* Ruby Bridges, the first Black child to integrate public schools in the
South
In fact, Secretary McMahon didn’t even know who Ruby Bridges is or what
the Tulsa race massacre was! Seems like we should be funding public
education after all and Secretary McMahon should be the first person in
the classroom — and the last person near our Dept. of Education.
While some of our leaders capitulate to Republicans to appease right-wing
donors, Summer only fights for her constituents and community. Now more
than ever, we need strong progressives like Summer to lead the Democratic
Party against the Trump administration and towards a better future for us
all.
