John,
We expect that those we elect to the presidency and to Congress will help our families and our country thrive. That’s what our members do every day: They create opportunity for our kids, our patients and our communities to succeed. But right now, the very things working people rely on—public schools, decent healthcare, retirement, good wages and a voice at work—are all under attack by this Congress and the current president.
That’s why,
on June 14, AFT members and our allies across the country are taking to the streets in peaceful, nonviolent rallies. Not out of anger but out of resolve.
We vote for presidents to be presidents—who listen to the people—not kings. That’s American democracy.
We’re standing up for what our communities need. We’re standing together to defend democracy, expand opportunity and build a better future for all.
Join AFT members and allies for a local No Kings Day rally in your community on June 14, 2025.
We're also holding a special town hall on June 10, 2025, at 6:00 pm ET to prepare for No Kings Day.
Donald Trump is betraying working people who struggle every day to get ahead. While he spends millions of taxpayer dollars on a military parade to celebrate his birthday and pushes $4 trillion of tax cuts to benefit the wealthy, he plans to pay for it by cutting school funding, supports for students with disabilities, Medicaid, Social Security and more.
And he got his friends in the House of Representatives to vote to impose this harm on America’s families.
To stand up to this, we must stand together and be seen. When your friends, colleagues and neighbors see you and our allies engaged, they will be even more inspired to join this fight!
Remember showing up is about fighting and caring.
From Philadelphia to Phoenix, we’ll be rallying, marching and showing up to protect the services and values that hold our communities together—not just to counter their attacks on communities but to fight for our vision of a better life for all. Trump and the Republicans fight for tax cuts for billionaires; we fight for tax cuts for the working class. They push to cut the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program and Medicaid; we push to make sure kids have food and our families can afford groceries and have access to decent healthcare. They push to hurt kids; we stand up to protect them and provide them with good public schools.
Will you join us on June 14? Find a No Kings Day event near you and join the town hall on June 10 to hear about the importance of building power through civic action.
This is bigger than one day or one fight. So many of you have already told us that you’ve been on the streets fighting for a better life for all, and many more are looking for ways to participate. This is about ensuring that every child, every family and every community has what they need to live, to learn and to thrive.
We hope to see you there on June 14.
In unity,
Randi Weingarten
AFT President
