In a special election for a rural SC state house seat that Vice President Harris only carried by 5 points, the Democratic candidate, Keishan Scott, a 24-year-old local elected official and minister, won with 71% of the vote, turning in a 36 point improvement on Harris' 2024 performance in this district:

Dem overperformances in special elections this year have ramifications for the 2026 Midterms in every district in America. 

National Embarrassment Lauren Boebert only won her carpetbagging bid for a red district in eastern Colorado by 11 points at a time when the entire nation shifted right. The average swing in every election since November 2024 has been around 13 points.

Freshman Rep. Gabe Evans—who recently cast the deciding vote to advance the GOP's big, nasty, destructive bill to kick off millions of families and children from Medicaid—barely flipped the tossup 8th District by around 2,500 votes, less than one percentage point.
