Dear Team,
Last week, you heard from Dr. Paul Isaacson—an independent abortion provider and client of the Center for Reproductive Rights. For the past four years, I've had the privilege of working shoulder to shoulder with Dr. Isaacson, fighting in courtrooms to protect abortion access in Arizona. And I can say with certainty: without supporters like you, we would be in a very different situation.
Our legal and state policy teams have worked with Dr. Isaacson through some of the most pivotal moments for reproductive rights in Arizona. Every step of the way, we've done this work at no expense to our clients... made possible by your donations.
Since 2009, we've partnered with Dr. Isaacson to:
- Strike down a harmful 20-week abortion ban, one of the earliest of its kind in the U.S..
- Challenge a Civil War era total abortion ban that went into effect after Roe v. Wade fell—and won a crucial victory to keep it off the books.
- Fight to enforce a new, voter-approved constitutional amendment safeguarding abortion access.
These victories didn't just happen. They took years of litigation, coordination with providers like Dr. Isaacson, and tireless legal strategy. As Dr. Isaacson told us recently: "Without the Center, I wouldn't be able to provide the abortion care and health care I do."
We're still fighting. Just last month, we filed a lawsuit in Arizona seeking to strike down many remaining abortion restrictions to further expand access to care in the state.
And the truth is, we couldn't do what we do without you.
Your support powers everything: the lawsuits, the emergency legal advice, the strategy to keep clinics open, and the vision for a future where every person can access the care they need.
You make our work possible. And because of that, independent abortion providers like Dr. Isaacson can continue to provide the compassionate care their communities deserve.
With gratitude,
Gail Deady
Senior Staff Attorney
Center for Reproductive Rights
P.S. Dr. Isaacson has faced relentless legal threats to his practice. Each time, he's turned to the Center and each time, we've been ready to act. That's only possible because of your continued support. Thank you.
