News from Rep. Chip Roy

Dear Mr. xxxxxx,

I wanted to pass along my latest update on what I have been doing to fight for you, Texas’ 21st Congressional District, and our country as a whole:

Recissions Package

Last week, the White House announced they will soon be sending over the first recessions package – providing Congress with reforms that will start to cement Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) cuts.

Congress should act immediately and take up this bill that will help eliminate waste, fraud, and abuse.

Here are a few examples of waste, fraud, and abuse within just USAID:

1. $1.5 million to “advance diversity equity and inclusion in Serbia's workplaces”
2. $70,000 for production of a "DEI musical" in Ireland
3. $2.5 million for electric vehicles for Vietnam
4. $47,000 for a “transgender opera” in Colombia
5. $32,000 for “transgender comic book” in Peru
6. $2 million for sex changes and “LGBT activism” in Guatemala
7. $6 million to fund tourism in Egypt
8. Millions to EcoHealth Alliance, which was involved in research at the Wuhan lab
9. $20 million for Sesame Street in Iraq to “promote inclusion”
10. $45 million for DEI scholarships in Burma

Restoring Integrity in Congress: Ban Stock Trading

Members of Congress should come to Washington to advance the interests of their constituents, not to benefit financially. Congress must act and pass common-sense legislation that would ban Members of Congress from trading stocks.

I have worked on this issue on a bipartisan basis for years, including with former Rep. Spanberger and now Rep. Magaziner, through H.R 396, the TRUST in Congress Act. We can and should fix the problem during this term, especially now that President Trump and Speaker Johnson have signaled their support for the measure.

We have a clear mandate from the American people to get this done. Let's deliver.

Fighting to Save the Texas Hill Country

I was proud to lead the charge to repeal hundreds of billions in Inflation Reduction Act subsidies during the reconciliation debate. These subsidies have had a significant impact on the Texas Hill Country leading to the mass proliferation of solar, wind, and battery facilities in sensitive rural areas.

Last week, I joined my friend Alex Epstein and Rep. Josh Brecheen of Oklahoma to discuss our fight to repeal the Inflation Reduction Act. You can watch it here or below.

Combating the Northward Spread of the New World Screwworm (NWS)

Last week, I sent a letter to Ambassador Ronald D. Johnson, U.S. Ambassador to Mexico, urging for action against the northward spread of the New World Screwworm (NWS).

Recent news from the U.S. Department of Agriculture suggests that the NWS has recently been detected 700 miles away from the U.S. southern border. If an outbreak were to occur in Texas, the USDA estimates it could cause $1.8 billion in damage to the state’s economy – devastating our ranchers’ entire livelihoods and affecting the U.S. cattle industry and our country’s food supply.

In good faith, I respectfully requested that the ambassador use any available diplomatic tools to push the Mexican government to collaborate with U.S. officials to combat the spread of the NWS.

God Bless our great Texas ranchers as I will continue to fight for their priorities.

Senior Awards: Celebrating the Next Generation of Texans

On Saturday, I was honored to host the next generation of Texas leadership at the TX-21 Senior Awards in New Braunfels. The event celebrated the achievements of our outstanding TX-21 high school students as they prepare to take their next steps, whether to college or one of our great service academies.

Our United States Service Academy Nominees will soon be setting off for West Point, Navy, Air Force, and the Merchant Marine Academy. This year TX-21 has a record number of students attending service academies. We are extremely proud of these young leaders and are excited to follow their growth.

U.S. Border Patrol Birthday

For over 100 years, the brave men and women of the U.S. Border Patrol have remained steadfast in protecting the American people from foreign and domestic security threats.

Last week, we celebrated Border Patrol’s 101st birthday. Thank you to all the brave agents who stand on the front lines to protect the homeland.
