John,
Republicans are pushing false claims about Medicaid work requirements. Here’s the truth:
Most adult Medicaid recipients already work – a solid 64%, in fact – often in low-paying jobs without benefits, which makes Medicaid essential. Those who don’t work typically have valid reasons: caregiving (12%), illness or disability (10%), or school (7%).
Despite this, Republicans are trying to impose federal work requirements – a policy that’s already failed in the states. When it was tried in Arkansas, over 18,000 people lost coverage because of the hoops they had to jump through.
Today’s video reveals the truth about Medicaid work requirements. Check it out, then share on your socials to spread the word on how the GOP’s Medicaid work requirements will harm millions of Americans nationwide!
If Republicans truly cared about employment, they’d expand Medicaid. In Ohio, Medicaid expansion helped people find and keep jobs, with a large majority of employed enrollees (83.5%) saying coverage made it easier to work, and most unemployed enrollees (60.0%) saying it made it easier to look for work.
Don’t be fooled: work requirements don’t help people find work and they don’t increase employment. They just strip coverage to fund tax breaks for the wealthy. Please watch, like, and share our video today.
Thank you for protecting health care for all Americans, including those who are ill, disabled, providing care, or attending school.
