Trump couldn’t get the military parade he wanted in his first term because the Pentagon wanted to keep the armed forces away from a political show. This time around, Trump is getting his tank-filled parade with soldiers marching in the streets of D.C. and planes flying overhead — all on his birthday.1

Trump says his big military show will “blow everything away,” including the World Cup and the Olympics.2 The vice chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff during Trump’s first term came out and said what’s clear: “This is what dictators do.”3

While the administration estimates that Trump’s grotesque military parade will cost $45 million, the true cost will likely be even greater.4 But Congress has the power to stop the funding for this parade celebrating a president who is shredding the rule of law and threatening our democracy.

Sign the petition: Urge Congress to block funding for Trump’s June 14th military parade. We have less than two weeks to halt this dangerous tank-filled display.

“This administration does not have a credible history of telling the truth about anything. And so, when they estimate $45 million, you know that’s a low-ball figure,” said Rep. Steve Cohen.5

To point out the damage Trump has done to our government and Veteran’s benefits, and the hypocrisy of this wasteful spending, Sen. Richard Blumenthal said if the administration really cared about the armed forces, the White House, “would honor past and present soldiers and reinstate the thousands of veterans who they fired from the federal workforce — not throw away millions on an extravagant parade.”6

This is not supposed to happen in a democracy — especially in celebration of a president who’s used law enforcement, the FBI, and military to flout the rule of law and persecute his political opponents.

Thousands of soldiers, streets worth of tanks, and 50 military planes — and tens of millions of dollars wasted. We need Congress to put a halt to Trump’s dream military parade.
