California’s Transitional Kindergarten Expansion

In the 2025–26 school year, Transitional Kindergarten (TK) will be open to all four-year-olds in California regardless of birthdate. This report examines trends in TK enrollment over time, highlighting differences in participation across school districts and student populations.
