Dear Friend,

These are crazy times.

Today in Texas, and throughout the country, we have more income and wealth inequality than ever before. The billionaire class is becoming much richer, while 60% of Americans live paycheck to paycheck and are struggling to survive.

Today, throughout the country, healthcare costs are skyrocketing, the price of housing is soaring, and a trip to the grocery store is increasingly expensive. Meanwhile, millions of Americans are working for starvation wages and are falling further and further behind.

While oligarchs and right-wing politicians now control the state, there is absolutely no reason why, with hard work and a vision, Texas cannot become a progressive state that represents the needs of its working families.

And here is the good news – The Texas Democratic Party now has new leadership in the form of Chairman Kendall Scudder, who is focused on building a state party powered by the working class of the state.

Real political and social change never takes place from the top on down. It always takes place from the bottom on up. It’s what happens when millions of Americans - Black, White, Latino, men and women, gay and straight, native born or immigrant - stand together for economic, social, racial, and environmental justice.

But he can't do it alone.

Not me. Us. That is the only way forward. Together.

Let’s be clear. Texas, because of its size, is the most important state in American politics.

That is why I am writing today - to ask you to say you'll sign up as a volunteer, contribute $5, or      sign up as a monthly contributor to the Texas Democratic Party.

In solidarity,
