The U.S. House of Representatives is back in session for another week of committee hearings, legislative votes, and floor activity. For more information on what I'm working on this week, be sure to follow me on social media. I do not serve in Congress to be a caretaker in the slow demise of America— I serve to fight and work to make it stronger. That’s what I am doing while believing our brightest days are yet to come. Yours in service, Click below to follow me on social media. Mann.House.Gov The Week Ahead This week, I’ll participate in a House Agriculture Committee hearing on the future of digital assets. As innovation reshapes the way our markets function, it’s critical that Congress provides clear guidance that protects consumers and promotes American leadership in the digital economy. I’ll also attend a Transportation and Infrastructure Subcommittee hearing on the implementation of the FAA Reauthorization Act, where we’ll hear directly from aviation stakeholders about what’s working, what’s not, and how we can strengthen and improve the future of American aviation. The House will also consider a slate of bills to strengthen America’s small businesses by expanding access to capital, improving transparency in federal contracting, and cutting red tape. We will also vote on legislation that continues to deliver on the mandate America gave Washington, D.C. on November 5, 2024, by reinforcing our nation’s immigration system and protecting Americans' tax dollars. Small businesses are the backbone of the Big First and our economy, and I will proudly support legislation that helps entrepreneurs grow, hire, and invest in their communities. Meetings in the Office Foundation for Rural Service HCA Healthcare Kansas Association of Realtors National Grain and Feed Association Kansas Livestock Association Kansas Appleseed Kansas Farmers Union Kansas Interfaith Action Harvesters Celebrating Kansas FFA Since 1928, Kansas FFA has established more than 200 chapters across our state. Currently, Kansas FFA serves nearly 14,000 young leaders in agriculture, and I had the privilege of joining them at their annual state convention in Manhattan last week. As a former president of Quinter’s local FFA chapter, I understand the impact FFA has on young leaders and how the organization can shape and mold their futures. I was inspired by the student leaders in attendance and shared more about my experience in FFA and the role it played in my professional development. We also talked about the importance of having strong agriculture advocates to ensure that agriculture not only survives but thrives in America and across the world. As co-chair of the Congressional FFA Caucus and an FFA alum, I’m proud to stand with the next generation of ag leaders who will feed, fuel, and clothe the world. Thank you for letting me join you, and I hope you had a great convention! Congressional Art Competition Winners Join me in congratulating the winner of this year’s Big First District Congressional Art Competition. 1st Place: “The Old Home Place” by Alyssa Rager, Onaga This year’s theme was Kansas, the Land that I Love. Alyssa’s artwork will hang in the U.S. Capitol for the next year, and I’m proud to see Kansas represented so well. Thank you to everyone who participated in this year’s competition. Condemning Antisemitic Terrorism Audrey and I were horrified by the vicious antisemitic attack that took place on the streets of our nation’s capital a few weeks ago. We were especially saddened to learn that Sarah Milgrim, an innocent victim of this act of terror, was a fellow Kansan. I cosponsored a resolution that formally condemns this senseless, antisemitic murder and remembers the lives of Yaron Lischinsky and Sarah Milgrim. We continue to lift up both Yaron and Sarah’s families, their colleagues at the Israeli embassy, and the entire Jewish community in prayer as they grieve the loss of their loved ones. There is no place for antisemitism anywhere, and we must reject this poison wherever it rears its ugly head. Applauding Updates to 45Z Last week, U.S. Department of Energy Secretary Chris Wright announced updates to the 45ZCF-GREET modeling tool, which removes barriers to domestic bioenergy production and expands access to the alternative fuels market. The new model accounts for new feedstocks and methods of production, including ethanol from corn wet-milling and natural gas from coal-mine methane. By lifting these senseless regulations, more farmers and biofuel producers will have the ability to invest in the future of alternative transportation fuel, creating more jobs and supporting rural America. I applaud the Trump Administration for fighting day in and day out to put American farmers first and revoke senseless regulations that hold back rural America. Promises made, promises kept. We’re also proud to assist Kansas veterans with accessing benefits and resolving issues with the VA. Constituent Services Meetings in Kansas Ascension Via Christi Hospital I visited Ascension Via Christi Hospital in Manhattan to hear firsthand from local health care providers about the issues that are most pressing to them. We discussed the importance of ensuring quality, accessible care in rural communities, and how federal policy can better support providers across the Big First. I'm grateful for the work Ascension Via Christi is doing to serve patients in the Manhattan area. Thanks for letting me visit! Kansas Farm Bureau I met with leaders from the Kansas Farm Bureau to discuss how House Republicans are delivering for farmers and ranchers across the Big First. We talked about the need for Congress to pass a five-year, fiscally conservative Farm Bill that reflects the needs of agriculture today, not seven years ago. We also discussed President Trump’s One Big Beautiful Bill, which invests $60 billion into the farm safety net by expanding crop insurance and updating reference prices. We all agree our state’s agricultural community is in desperate need of long-term certainty, and I am hopeful that Congress will move swiftly to provide it. Wamego Health Center Rural hospitals like Wamego Health Center are essential to keeping Kansas communities strong and healthy. I had a great visit with their team to discuss how Congress can support the important service rural hospitals provide. I’m grateful for the dedicated health care professionals who show up every day to care for their neighbors. Thank you for all you do. Kansas Chamber I appreciated the opportunity to sit down with Alan Cobb, President and CEO of the Kansas Chamber, to talk about the challenges facing Kansas businesses and how Congress can help them thrive. Small businesses are the backbone of our economy, and we need policies that encourage the innovation and entrepreneurial spirit they require. I’m grateful for the Kansas Chamber’s work supporting job creators and keeping Kansas businesses thriving. Thanks for meeting with me. Standard Beverage I enjoyed touring the Standard Beverage distribution center in Lawrence and learning more about their operations throughout the Big First. Standard Beverage plays an important role in strengthening our supply chain, serving communities across the state, and creating stable jobs in Douglas County. Thanks for the tour and for all you do to serve Kansas! Lawrence Hydropower Plant I visited the Lawrence Hydropower Plant to see firsthand how they’re using renewable resources to produce reliable and affordable energy for Kansans. This facility is a great example of how we can harness American innovation and natural resources to strengthen our energy grid, support rural communities, and lower costs for families. Hydropower is an essential part of an all-of-the-above energy strategy that prioritizes American energy independence and dominance. Thanks for having me. Envista Credit Union I toured Envista Federal Credit Union in Topeka to learn more about their operations and the personalized banking experience they provide for more than 47,000 members. As a not-for-profit cooperative, Envista helps Kansans achieve their financial goals through competitive rates, secure services, and strong customer support. We also discussed some of their legislative priorities and the importance of safeguarding consumer data. Thanks to the Envista team for the warm welcome and for everything you do to serve Kansans. KanEquip Innovative, efficient agricultural equipment is essential to empowering our farmers to feed, fuel, and clothe the world. I toured KanEquip's Wamego location to learn more about how the company is aiding our agricultural producers across the Big First. We spoke about the positive effects of the One Big Beautiful Bill and how the House Agriculture Committee can continue to help farmers by passing a fiscally conservative, five-year Farm Bill.
