I know there’s a lot going on right now, and I’m sure you’re getting a lot of emails from candidates like me. But I hope you’ll take a few minutes to read this message to learn a bit more about me, and chip in $25 now to flip the Senate blue >> Let me start by reintroducing myself. I’m a racial, religious, ethnic minority immigrant with 29 letters in my name. Growing up in Peoria, Illinois, I often felt like an outsider because of my identity. My mother always dressed in a sari. My parents spoke Tamil, a South Indian language, most of the time. We ate different food than everyone around us — we even traveled with our rice cooker. ![]() Despite our outward differences, the community in Peoria embraced us. I went to public schools in Peoria’s District 150 — there weren't a lot of people who looked like me playing sports back then, but I earned a starting spot on the football team my freshman year of high school. ![]() My parents worked incredibly hard to give us a better life, but fell on hard times. So, we lived for a time in Public Housing to keep a roof over our heads and depended on SNAP to eat. Thanks to these essential safety net programs, we were able to make it through. That’s something I’ll never take for granted. With the help of my community, government programs, and the money I saved working at McDonalds — I went to college, and eventually graduated from Law School. ![]() Growing up, every night at the dinner table inside, my father would say: “Think of the greatness of this country. Whatever you do, make sure this country is there for the next families who need it.” Now, I’m raising my own family here in Illinois, and that’s the ethos I bring into Congress everyday. Because every family – regardless of who they are, where they live, or how many letters are in their last name – deserves the chance to work hard and succeed. ![]() Honestly John, there aren’t a lot of people who look like me or have stories like mine in the Senate. Donald Trump and his far-right MAGA maniacs don’t want to see folks like me succeed, let alone be elected to the U.S. Senate. But I refuse to let people like them win. So now, I’m running for the United States Senate to hold Donald Trump accountable and fight for a better future for hardworking Americans.
Thank you for your continued support,
