Update: Olympic View Transfer Station open Tuesday, June 3, 2025

After working late into the night, the Olympic View Transfer Station [ [link removed] ] will be *open today, Tuesday, June 3, 2025*, after a one-day closure due to operational challenges. We thank you for your patience and understanding.

 

New garbage compactors coming soon

Olympic View Transfer Station's current garbage compactor is over ten years old and is nearing its end-of-life, which causes frequent outages and facility closures.

Kitsap County's contractor is currently preparing to install a second garbage compactor at the facility, which will increase garbage processing time and provide backup during compactor maintenance. We expect this second machine to come online this fall.

After the second compactor is installed, Kitsap County will replace the current compactor. We have already purchased this machine, which costs around $5 million and takes eight months to manufacture.
