John,

You made a big difference this year for Pro-Life bills!

For the last five months, supporters like you contacted lawmakers, visited the Capitol, and prayed for Texas Right to Life. Thank you!

Today was the last day that officials met for 2025.

Take a look at what lawmakers got right—and where they fell short. >> ([link removed])

👎 Failure to Stop Abortion Pills

The Woman and Child Protection Act (SB 2880) ranked as the top Pro-Life bill of 2025. It would have cracked down on abortion pills brought into Texas—whether sold online, shipped in the mail, or trafficked over the border.

The policy died after Chairman Ken King (R–Canadian) delayed the Woman and Child Protection Act so long in committee that it never reached the House floor before the deadline.

Because of this, an estimated 38,000 abortion pills will flood into Texas before lawmakers meet again in 2027—killing babies and putting 1 in 10 mothers at risk of serious harm ([link removed]) . The only way to stop this crisis sooner is if Governor Abbott calls a special session to pass the Woman and Child Protection Act.
👍 Building a Pro-Life Texas Progress
Despite the Legislature's failure on abortion pills, officials still passed several meaningful Pro-Life measures that will help moms and babies:

Stop Tax-Funded Abortion Travel Act [priority]
(SB 33 by Sen. Donna Campbell, M.D., (R–New Braunfels), sponsored by Rep. Candy Noble (R–Lucas))

Your taxpayer dollars will be protected from funding abortion travel costs (like what happened in Austin and San Antonio ([link removed]) ).

Support for Fragile Babies
(SB 1233 by Sen. Kelly Hancock (R–North Richland Hills), sponsored by Rep. Valoree Swanson (R–Spring))

When a family finds out their preborn child may not live very long after birth, hospitals and doctors will now provide information on specialized care for their babies and community support for the parents so they don’t feel alone.

Life of the Mother Act
(SB 31 by Sen. Bryan Hughes (R–Mineola), sponsored by Rep. Charlie Geren (R–Fort Worth))

Doctors and lawyers will now get training about Texas’ Pro-Life laws so they know what to do if a pregnant woman faces a life-threatening illness ([link removed]) . In most cases, the best option is to deliver the baby early—even if the child is too premature to survive—so both mother and baby receive care.

Adoption Education
(SB 1207 by Sen. Phil King (R–Weatherford), sponsored by Rep. Terri Leo-Wilson (R–Galveston))

High schools will now teach students about adoption, helping them see it as a compassionate, life-affirming alternative to abortion and fighting the fears young mothers may have.

Protecting Pregnancy Center Funding
(SB 1388 by Sen. Lois Kolkhorst (R–Brenham), sponsored by Rep. James Frank (R–Wichita Falls))

SB 1388 ensures that Pro-Life state funds only go to Pro-Life nonprofits, like maternity homes, pregnancy resource centers, and adoption agencies. (Recently, bureaucrats gave Pro-Life funding to a group that referred women for abortions.)

Pro-Life Funding (Thriving Texas Families Program)

Good news: We secured $200 million in state funding for pregnancy centers, adoption agencies, and maternity homes—thanks to the leadership of Pro-Life lawmakers like Rep. Caroline Harris Davila and Rep. Tom Oliverson. This final amount falls just shy of the $210 million goal, but is still a meaningful increase from the original proposal.

Texas Right to Life does NOT receive any state funding, but we were the only statewide group at the Capitol fighting to protect this life-saving program.
đź”´ Bad Bills Defeated
This year, we helped defeat several dangerous bills, including efforts that would have:

Repealed Pro-Life laws or added exceptions for abortion;

Let fathers avoid paying child support if they offered to pay for an abortion; and

Honored former Planned Parenthood president Cecile Richards.

John, we’re glad to see the steps taken to help moms and babies, but we cannot ignore the bloodshed by abortion pills in Texas and House leadership’s apathy.

Christians must stay vigilant, engaged, and vocal.

Together, we will continue to defend Life at every stage—from fertilization to natural death—and hold elected officials accountable for protecting the most vulnerable.

Thank you for being there through the ups and downs. Know that your support and prayers truly make a difference!
Defending LIFE with you,
