Deadline Extended: Disaster Relief Loan Program for Altadena Businesses Now Open Through June 30

The Los Angeles County Development Authority (LACDA) Altadena Disaster Relief Small Business Loan Program is here to help fire-impacted Altadena businesses.
The program offers loans of up to $75,000 to eligible small businesses in Altadena seeking to recover, rebuild, and retain local jobs.
To be eligible, businesses must operate a public-facing storefront in unincorporated ZIP codes 91001 or 91104, and have been in operation for at least six months prior to applying. FEMA assistance recipients are also eligible.
Applications are reviewed on a first-come, first-served basis.

Free Fire Recovery Conservation Clinic for Artworks and Other Belongings
Do you need help with your fire-damaged art and cherished belongings?
Art Recovery LA, Los Angeles County Department of Arts and Culture, and Getty are offering FREE services to those affected by the fires, including:
ā¢ Condition assessments of your recovered artworks and belongings
ā¢ Cleaning objects to remove soot and ash
ā¢ Demonstrations to remove the smell of smoke from small objects
ā¢ Custom archival boxes for safe storage
Bring only one artwork/belonging, no larger than 30 inches at greatest length. Multiple (up to 3) small objects may be considered. Bring your artworks, photographs, photo albums, stuffed animals, toys, collectibles, ceramics, jewelry, textiles, and other cherished belongings that survived the fires.
If possible, pack your object in a plastic bin, plastic baggie, or wrap in plastic sheeting.

Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Small Business Recovery Fund Grant: This Friday, June 6, 2025 - For both the Eaton Fire and Palisades Fire areas, the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce has launched a Small Business Recovery Fund.
The grant applications will be reviewed on a first-come, first-served basis, subject to available funds. For qualification information and to apply for a Small Business Recovery Fund grant, or to contribute, visit LAChamberRecoveryFund.com.

The LA County Department of Arts and Culture Free Temporary Artwork Storage: This Friday, June 6, 2025 - Free temporary storage for artworks to artists and community-based organizations who have lost access to home storage, studio space, commercial storage, or other areas for storing artwork due to the 2025 Los Angeles wildfires. Storage will be offered on a first come, first served basis, with priority given to applicants in the immediate fire perimeter. This service will be available for a maximum of one year, from July 2025 to July 2026. Please check this website for full details on eligibility and how to apply.

Disaster Unemployment Assistance: June 10, 2025 - Los Angeles County workers, business owners, and self-employed people affected by the wildfires have until Tuesday, June 10, 2025, to apply for federal Disaster Unemployment Assistance. Click here for more information.

Foreclosure Relief for Wildfire-Affected Homeowners: July 7, 2025 - There is a foreclosure moratorium for FHA-insured single-family mortgages in effect until July 7, 2025. If you need guidance exploring foreclosure prevention options, Department of Consumer and Business Affairs counselors are available to help. Economic Injury Disaster Loans: October 8, 2025 -Ā Small businesses and most private nonprofit organizations located in a declared disaster area and which have suffered substantial economic injury may be eligible for a Small Business Administration Economic Injury Disaster Loan.  Owners of Properties with Fire Debris Who Didn't Opt-In to Government Debris Removal Program Have Until June 30, 2025 to Clear Debris
Private property owners with fire debris who have opted out of the government-sponsored debris removal program, or did not opt-in to that program, have until June 30, 2025 to complete debris removal.
If cleanup is not completed by this date, the property may be declared a Public Nuisance. The County may take steps to remove fire ash and debris from the property; the cost of this debris removal will be charged to the property owner. If not paid, the cost may be recovered through a lien on the property.

The County of Los Angeles has an introductory resource guide for planning, designing, and constructing healthy, fire resilient, and efficient buildings and properties. The resource guide is for property ownersāand design and building professionals supporting property ownersāfaced with post-fire rebuilding. The resource guide also supports those considering retrofitting existing structures and/or building new structures regardless of fire impacts.

Self-Certification Pilot Program Launched to Speed Rebuilding in Unincorporated Areas
TheĀ Building Plan Self-Certification Pilot Program is designed to streamline plan review and help homeowners rebuild faster following the Eaton and Palisades Fires.
Under this program, California licensed architects and engineers can self-certify that their building plans comply with the Los Angeles County Building Code, eliminating the need for a full plan check review. Architects and engineers interested in participating in the program must register at recovery.lacounty.gov/rebuilding/self-certification.
A list of professionals registered to self-certify will be available at recovery.lacounty.gov/rebuilding. Only architects and engineers who register in advance will be able to self-certify plans.
Eligible projects include the replacement of single-family homes, accessory dwelling units (ADUs) and appurtenant structures that were damaged by the Eaton or Palisades Fire and are located in unincorporated areas of Los Angeles County.
All required approvals from other L.A. County departments ā including Regional Planning, Public Health, and Fire ā must still be obtained prior to the issuance of a building permit.
L.A. County Public Works will continue to offer traditional plan checks and other rebuilding tools, including preapproved standard plans that have already been reviewed for code compliance.
