Maggie said I could reach out to you today with a special message about Pride.
Growing up gay in New Hampshire, I never imagined this future was possible.
While I was lucky to receive love and support from family and friends, it was still hard to picture a time when I would be able to live openly let alone be elected to Congress.
I certainly never imagined the community I grew up in would embrace me, believe in me, and elect me to represent them — not just once, but four times in a row.
Now because of the progress we’ve made together, I’m running for U.S. Senate. And if elected, I’d make history as the first openly gay man to ever serve in that chamber.
Will you help me make history? Pitch in $10 to support my grassroots campaign and Maggie Hassan now. [[link removed]]
When I came out there were examples of LGBTQ+ trailblazers – like Harvey Milk – who had been elected to public office. But it wasn’t a very long list. I knew that if I was going to serve my neighbors the way I envisioned, I’d need to break some barriers of my own.
With the support of my community, I became the first openly gay man to represent New Hampshire in Congress back in 2018. I defeated the GOP four times in one of the most competitive districts in the country. Now I’m fighting to keep our U.S. Senate seat blue.
New Hampshire is one of the most critical swing states in this election cycle. Republicans are targeting this race, aiming to flip this competitive seat red and expand their majority.
But we’re going to stop them together, just like we’ve done before. We’re going to keep this seat blue – and we’re going to defy expectations when we take back the Senate.
This campaign means so much. It’s something that my younger self would never have even imagined. And not only is this race our opportunity to make LGBTQ+ history, it’s a crucial election we can’t afford to lose to the GOP. The stakes are simply too high.
If it makes sense for you today, please split a $10 contribution to my campaign and Maggie Hassan right now. [[link removed]]
