Dear John,

Recent News

This past Memorial Day, we paused as a nation to remember the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. From quiet moments of reflection to community ceremonies, Americans across the country came together to honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
I was grateful to spend Memorial Day in Washington, D.C., with my family at the National Memorial Day Parade. It was a powerful reminder that freedom isn’t free—and that behind every flag and every salute is a name, a story, and a family who gave so much.
In the days leading up to Memorial Day, I joined my fellow members of the For Country Caucus to help wash the Vietnam Veterans Memorial. Every name etched into that granite represents a life of courage and sacrifice. Taking time to care for that sacred space was a small but meaningful way to show our respect—and to ensure that their stories are never forgotten.

District Update

After a long week in Washington, it sure felt good to be back home. I always enjoy being back in the district, and this visit to Corsicana was especially memorable thanks to the incredible young artists I had the chance to meet.

We hosted a showcase to unveil the winners of this year’s Congressional Art Challenge—and let me tell you, the creativity and talent on display were truly something to behold. Congratulations to all who participated! Your artwork is a powerful reminder of the bright future ahead of us.

Next month, our overall winner’s piece will be flown to Washington, D.C., to be displayed in the U.S. Capitol alongside art from students across the country. It’s a special tradition that not only highlights the talent here in Texas’ 6th District, but celebrates the creativity of young Americans nationwide.
