John,

This isn’t a joke — but it should be.

EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin is preparing to declare that greenhouse gases from fossil fuel-burning power plants don’t significantly contribute to climate change.

Even though the EPA’s own data shows that power plants are the second-largest source of greenhouse gas emissions in the U.S., Zeldin plans to brush that off entirely so his polluting friends can keep profiting.

When pressed by SEEC Co-Chair Rep. Paul Tonko (NY-20) in a House hearing, Zeldin scrambled to justify his actions. He floated a new excuse for gutting climate rules: that the Obama administration evaluated the combined impact of six dangerous greenhouse gases instead of assessing them individually.

It doesn’t matter if you look at them separately or together: the impact of greenhouse gases is felt by our environment, our wildlife, and our climate. We need lawmakers who will speak out for our health, our future, and our planet — not polluters.

That’s exactly what SEEC members are doing, but they can’t do it alone. Will you rush a donation today to help us support climate champions like Rep. Tonko who will continue holding Zeldin accountable? [[link removed]]
