Hello, True Texans!

I'm sure you're all aware that the Texas legislative session ends this week.  It was probably the worst session I've seen in my 16 years of activism. Now, I don't want to discount the good that happened (and yes, there was some good), but I also want to be sure you're prepared for the gaslighting the legislators will now try to do.  How do we react to that?  Here's one bit of advice from a former State Rep and long-time friend to True Texas Project, Jonathan Stickland (as posted on X)...

Dear Texans,
Many of you feel helpless right now as you watch politicians work with lobbyists, special interests, and political consultants to raid your wallets and strip away your liberties. Most of those campaign promises they made are now revealed as a fart in the wind so many months ago.
Understand they are at the height of their power. For months, they have circled the wagons and convinced themselves everything will be OK. They got it all figured out. They control the clock, the fake media will cover for them, and big donors will line their campaign accounts with cash. Just "go with the flow," and "keep your heads down" is their plan. "Voters won't remember when it's time to campaign again." "No one will run against us!"
This all changes as soon as they get home. For the next year and a half, they are vulnerable. They must answer to you for everything they have and haven't done.
Educate yourselves now. Don't trust them; verify everything. Show up. Take action. Hold them all accountable.
You have what they can't control: your votes, energy, donations, and the truth about this session.
Get ready, it's a huge responsibility - one they are hoping you will forget you have so they can return in two years, have their little fun club, and hang out with all the "cool kids in Austin" all over again.
Everyone hold on, the winds are shifting.
Pray for Texas.

He's not wrong.  You DO have what they can't control, it IS a huge responsibility, and you MUST get ready.

We can help

Fran will be sending out a compilation this week of the good and the bad from the session.  And our July podcast, which releases July 4, will feature an interview we do with Luke Macias on this same subject.  Both of those will be great tools for you as you confront your state legislators.

The Beat Goes On
We've been doing this a long time.  We fight like mad to get good people elected in the Primary, and then we follow them through the session.  As soon as session ends, it's time for the Primary again and we try to build our numbers.

True Texas Project is there every step of the way for all of these things.  During elections, we put out recommendations for multiple counties -- 130 last year!!! - and we have an 80% win rate.  During the session, we are in Austin at least once a week with dozens and dozens of activists working the legislators (plus more working from home).  Through it all, we continue to train, train, train more and more activists in our True Texas Army.

It's a lot.  We could use your help to keep it all going! Please consider what you can give.
