Hi friend,

I hope you’re doing well. Your support continues to mean so much to me – whether it’s chipping in financially, responding to our priorities surveys, or even forwarding this email to your network. I appreciate the team we have built here. The response to these newsletter continues to be a source of optimism for me as we stay connected on the work I am doing, as well as everything happening on the ground.

In this week’s edition of the Patriot Weekly, I wanted to give you an update into how my team and I are working to directly solve problems in the Hudson Valley with my C.A.R.E.S van traveling across the district to address whatever issues constituents are facing. I also wanted to share my thoughts on the West Point graduation, which I was honored to attend, but stunned to see how President Trump treated the graduates themselves, as well as provide another update into how I am thinking about the budget bill that just passed the House and where we can go from here.

That’s why two years ago, I rolled out my Constituent Advocacy Resources Empowerment Services (C.A.R.E.S.) Van, to bring help with federal agencies directly to you in your neighborhood. We’ve delivered flood recovery resources directly to damaged communities, brought Social Security assistance to seniors in Ulster County, helped veterans access PACT Act benefits, and much more. What you can do: Our C.A.R.E.S Van schedule for the June is coming out Monday and I’d love your help spreading the word! I do my best to make sure everyone knows when we’ll be in their community, but the events run even better when folks on the ground are sharing as well. The calendar will go live on my website and Twitter Monday morning – especially with all the cuts, closures, and chaos, these van stops are more important than ever.New York

[link removed] [[link removed]]As you may have seen in the news, President Trump was the commencement speaker (just as President Biden was the year before). I was seated with the official party on the dais just a few seats from the podium, which was quite a surreal experience. West Point graduation is supposed to be about the cadets and their commitment to selfless service.Instead, Trump put on a MAGA hat and treated it like a campaign rally.

What I’m doing: I was there to honor the cadets and their families, and am glad and grateful I went, but I couldn’t let Trump’s behavior go unanswered. So I wrote him a letter and published an op-Ed that you can read by clicking here. [[link removed]]

What you can do: We cannot let his behavior become so normal that we no longer call it out. Please consider sharing this op-Ed with your own networks and calling it out yourself.Washington

What I’m doing: This week, Trump’s budget bill will go to the Senate for debate before a vote. I voted no when this bill was voted on in the House, and I have continued to bang the drum on how disastrous this budget is for families here in the Hudson Valley and across the country. It makes devastating cuts to food and healthcare programs while driving up costs for everyone; gives massive tax breaks to big corporations and the ultra-rich instead of the middle class; and irresponsibly adds over $5 trillion to the national debt. I am using every platform at my disposal to call attention to this disaster and advocate for the Senate to do the right thing and vote it down.

What you can do: There is still a chance to course-correct. The budget has to pass the Senate. We need to be LOUD and UNITED in urging the Senate to reject this reckless bill that benefits that wealthiest .1% at the expense of everyday Americans. Call and write your Senators, especially if you live outside of New York, and encourage them to vote no.

Going on offense

[[link removed]] Coming out of the 2024 election, I have been thinking a lot about how Democrats can and should be meeting the moment that we’re in, and how we chart a new path forward that allows us to take back the House in 2026, the White House in 2028, and win back the trust of the American people.I spoke with Time Magazine about where the Democratic Party is now, and where it can go. You can read the full interview featuring me and others by clicking here. [[link removed]] And if you’re interested in digging into my “patriotic populism” theory of the case, then you can check out the profile I did with Time a few months ago by clicking here. The everyday patriots I have met the last few months – at community rallies, in town halls, during meetings – have been a source of hope and inspiration for me. I will continue to set an example of how Democrats can become the party of patriotism and truly standing on the side of the people. In the meantime, I would encourage you to find opportunities to express your patriotism in your own community – whether it’s knocking doors for a candidate, showing up to a rally, or even running for office yourself.

Keep the faith, keep up the fight, and thank you for reading!

In Solidarity,

Pat
