More Democrats support marriage than ever. More Republicans are growing opposed to it

This Week on LGBTQ Nation

Why it matters: California immediately caved to Trump's demand that they do something about a trans girl who won a track event, but that didn't stop it from becoming the second state targeted by the administration on this issue (after Maine). Trump is showing that he will use the full force of the federal government to keep a small number of trans girls out of school sports.

Why it matters: The parties have been realigning over the past few years, including on LGBTQ+ issues. While the GOP's growing transphobia has been obvious for years, their growing homophobia has gotten less attention.

Why it matters: Kennedy's war on science includes the science related to gender-affirming care. The administration is relying on ideologically produced reports to supplant the work of actual researchers in their respective fields.

Why it matters: The science backs gender-affirmation for trans youth, but Republicans don't want to hear about it. And when that gets pointed out to them, they ignore it.

Why it matters: Hungary is just one country where a far-right, authoritarian government has taken over and cracked down on human rights, including LGBTQ+ rights. Liberal democracies must learn how to counter this growing threat.

And here are more good reads for this Sunday.
