Good morning!

Well, it's nice and dry at the current apartment at the current time, but the sheetrock in the bathroom on the ceiling and one wall is hanging by whatever the construction equivalent of a thread is. We just need six more days without it falling on our heads, and then we'll be getting our things moved to the new place.

I'm appalled by the lack of emergency maintenance from the current property management company. We've sent photos and called, listening to the "emergency" number just ring indefinitely. If I were the owner and my building was suffering all this water damage, I'd be furious at the negligence of management. The damage didn't need to be this extensive, but here we are.

We moved everything out of the bathroom yesterday and boxed up what we don't need over the next week. We threw a tarp over everything near the bathroom, just in case things start going sideways again.

On to brighter things. We're nearly packed! Honestly, we're getting to be pros at moving faster than we'd planned. We're very much looking forward to a new setting, and both thinking about the end result instead of the work we're looking at to get settled in. It's wonderful to have something to look forward to in the future.

Retaining one's optimism in the face of challenges is, in my opinion, the best medicine for getting through them. Sometimes it is very difficult, but if you can find just a glimmer of hope, you have a compass for getting through it.

Today I'm heading out to the grocery store to get the makings for some simple meals for the week ahead, since our kitchen is mostly packed. I truly enjoy getting out to the store by myself - it's a highlight for me after so long of not being able to do so. I am halfway through a riveting mystery and plan to curl up and read this afternoon.

Here's hoping you are also looking forward to a lovely week ahead. Thank you so much for all the well wishes you guys sent yesterday!

Stay safe.
Be happy.

Love,

Daisy
