Dear John,
I hope this email finds you safe and healthy. As World Refugee Day approaches, I
wanted to reach out and let you know what we're doing in Ecuador for refugees
and asylum seekers who are facing disproportionate risks from COVID-19.
In Ecuador, the impacts of COVID-19 have been devastating. Many refugees, who
were just starting to rebuild their lives after fleeing violence and
persecution, lost their jobs overnight. Since the pandemic began three months
ago, many of these refugees have been forced to drain their savings just to keep
themselves housed and fed.

HIAS Ecuador is working hard every day to support refugees and asylum seekers
during this incredibly difficult time by offering emergency cash assistance to
ensure they can access the food, medical supplies and the necessities they need
most. And as the pandemic continues with far too many people unable to meet
their basic needs, we hope you’ll consider making a lifesaving donation in honor
of World Refugee Day:
If you can, make a contribution of $18 in honor of World
Refugee Day to provide refugees and asylum seekers with the vital assistance
they need to rebuild their lives in freedom and safety.

Since the pandemic began, our team has been working tirelessly to make sure
displaced families can afford food and other essentials. In addition, we’re
supporting families emotionally, connecting with those who need us through our
local hotline, which takes an average of 1,700 calls from refugees every day.
And we’re doing everything we can to expand our support, from working on
distributing face masks to developing strategies to help families financially
recover from the pandemic.
During this unprecedented crisis, HIAS stands with all displaced people in
search of safe haven. And right now, refugees and asylum seekers in Ecuador and
around the world are in need of help in their quest for freedom and safety.
That’s why we’re asking for your support today:
If you can, please make a gift of $18 in honor of World
Refugee Day to help refugees and asylum seekers build new lives in freedom
during this challenging time.
