David Cicilline

Folks, Happy Pride month!

And here’s some good news (finally!): The Supreme Court ruled this week that federal employment discrimination laws protect LGBTQ+ employees!

This a huge win, and a victory of liberty and equality. Being your open and authentic self should not be a fireable offense.

But this ruling only protects employment. It does not protect housing, healthcare, and many critical areas where LGBTQ+ Americans need and deserve equal treatment under the law. In fact, the Trump administration just rolled back healthcare protections for transgender Americans.

That’s why I introduced the Equality Act – because equality for our LGBTQ+ communities is long past due.

We need to codify full and equal protections into law. Add your name to support the immediate and urgent passage of the Equality Act through the Senate.

I am proud that 236 Representatives passed the Equality Act in the House to prohibit discrimination against the LGBTQ+ community. It’s time to get this legislation out of Mitch McConnell’s Senate graveyard.

But it will likely take a Democratic-held Senate, House, and White House to get this done. That’s why I am honored to join Joe Biden’s LGBTQ+ steering committee to turn out a record number of LGBTQ+ voters this November to kick Trump out of the White House and win up and down the ballot.

We have work to do. Add your name to stand with the LGBTQ+ community and demand that the Senate take up the Equality Act for a vote!

In solidarity,

-- David
