I want to reach out with a hopeful message today.

Yes, this moment is terrifying. Donald Trump and his Republican loyalists are doing everything they can to gut vital government programs, pad the wallets of the wealthiest Americans and turn all of us against each other.

But I truly remain hopeful that together, we can turn the page on this tough moment in our history and be the ones who proudly stood together for everything we believe in.

I’m hopeful because every single day, my team and I hear from teachers, nurses, union workers, seniors, parents and hardworking Americans who still believe that change is possible.

They know it won’t come easy. And a lot of them spend their days thinking about how they’re going to pay that next bill, access the health care they need or put food on the table for their families.

The reality is: Most people are not paying close attention to the constant stream of bad news coming out of Washington, D.C — or they’re just plain tired of hearing it. I can’t say I blame them.

But they do know we need change. It’s our responsibility to keep fighting for an America that represents all of us.
