John, it's Congressman Hank Johnson, and you're probably hearing a lot about Trump's "Big Beautiful Bill" that passed the House last week.
I took to 11 Alive to talk about the negative impact in our district and the rest of America, but before I run through the details, I have to let you know that this bill only passed by ONE vote.
That's why it's critical we elect and re-elect Democrats like me to take back the majority and shut down right-wing nonsense.
Today, will you chip in to help me fundraise to start that work for 2026? I'm aiming raise $2,809 before midnight to reach my goal and stay on track. >> [[link removed]]

John, the House Budget Bill promises to do a few things, like:
👎 Strip Medicaid from millions of Americans over the next few years
👎 Make SNAP benefits harder to access for families with children over age 7 (yes, 7 is no longer considered a kid to these people)
👎 Increase the tax burden for the lowest income Americans to compensate for billionaire tax cuts—which doesn't even end up covering the over 4 trillion this bill will add to our deficit!
MAGA Republicans passed their Big Ugly Bill during the dark of night in a futile effort to hide the harms that their legislation will inflict upon the ordinary people of this country. In addition to cutting Medicaid, Medicare and SNAP, they also used the opportunity to slip some non-budget items into the bill, like taking power from the judicial branch to help Trump evade accountability for ignoring the Constitution. I fought that directly in Rules with an amendment!
John, no man is above the law, and I'm fighting every day to make sure Americans aren't left behind while this corrupt President takes $BILLIONS for himself while taking food from the mouths of hungry children.
While I continue to fight in Congress alongside other Democrats, it's crucial to remember that a bill's passage in Congress is a numbers game. And with the harmful policies MAGA Republicans are pushing now, the 2026 elections are our chance to get the numbers we need to keep Trump in check and make real progress for Americans.
John, my May End of Month Fundraising Deadline is tonight, and I'm still $2,809 away from my goal. Today, will you chip in to help me continue being a voice for accountability to the American people in the federal government? [[link removed]]
