The Supreme Court is about to recess for the summer — here’s what we’re watching.
With only weeks left in its term, the Supreme Court is preparing to issue a series of opinions that could impact everything from LGBTQ+ rights, redistricting, and Donald Trump’s illegal effort to end birthright citizenship.
For years, Republicans have been laying the groundwork to stack the courts — legislating from the bench and using lifetime appointees to tip the scales in their favor. They're not fooling anyone.
Now, as they ready themselves to issue opinions that could profoundly affect millions of Americans, we’re ready to fight back — by building a progressive movement to restore the ideological balance and legitimacy of the Supreme Court and courts across the country. But we can’t do any of this without you, John.
Can you chip in $5 today to support Demand Justice? This organization is powering the fight to restore balance to our courts and ensure they serve all of us.

Here are some of the important cases we’re watching:
- Birthright citizenship — this will likely be one of the most significant cases that the justices will rule on in the coming weeks. Their decision will have an impact that goes far beyond birthright citizenship, and it could shift the balance of power between the executive and judicial branches for years to come.
- LGBTQ+ rights — the Court appears poised to uphold state bans on gender-affirming care for minors and expanding religious exemptions by letting parents opt their kids out of reading books from LGBTQ+ authors or with queer characters. This follows the Court’s earlier decision to uphold a ban on transgender Americans from serving in the military.
- Redistricting — the justices will decide whether to allow Louisiana to continue using a voting map that includes two-majority Black districts. This comes after the Court has spent years gutting the Voting Rights Act, a landmark piece of legislation that outlaws discriminatory voting practices, particularly those targeting Black voters.
John, as we've seen in the last few years, this Court has taken point in rolling back years of hard-fought progress. From giving the President broad immunity to commit crimes while in office to overturning Roe v. Wade, canceling student loan forgiveness programs, and vastly expanding gun rights, it’s pretty clear the Court has become nothing more than a GOP rubber stamp.
That’s why groups like Demand Justice are fighting back. By building a diverse and progressive bench, we can strengthen our judicial system and insulate our democracy from further attacks by an increasingly extremist far-right.
They rely on the support of everyday folks just like you, John. Can you fuel their work for a fairer justice system today by pitching in $5?
