Remember when Republicans said they wouldn’t cut Medicare?

Well, Trump’s “big, beautiful bill” that the House GOP just passed goes right at Medicare. Of course, Republicans tried to do it sneakily—here’s how:

First, they add trillions to the national debt (which is how they fund their tax breaks for billionaires and big corporations at your expense.) But that added debt load triggers something by law called “sequestration.” Sequestration is what cuts tens of billions of dollars out of Medicare.

It’s a disgrace.

I can’t help but think back to being Chairman of the Senate Budget Committee, where I got constant Republican lectures, telling me to ignore the looming climate disaster (think property insurance costs) because of the national debt… and then, guess what, Republicans’ big, beautiful-for-billionaires bill hikes the debt limit by $4 trillion so they can give tax breaks to the wealthiest Americans. What a sham.

Time and time again the GOP proves that they’ll do anything – including ripping health care away from the people who can least afford it – to serve the rich at the expense of everyone else.

I will do everything in my power to stop this legislation in the Senate and I’ll keep fighting to provide high-quality, affordable health care for all. I hope you’ll join me in this work to protect our country from Trump and his creepy billionaire friends, who are coming for plunder. [link removed]
