Hi Friend,

Thank you to everyone who joined our fast for Gaza on World Hunger Day! Over 1,000 people participated, and many shared their commitment on social media. This symbolic act was one part of our ongoing effort to end the genocide and show solidarity with the more than 2 million Palestinians in Gaza.  

Every day that the crisis continues, more people will die of starvation as Israel blocks nearly all food and life-saving aid from entering Gaza. That’s why we must keep up our calls and emails to Congress. Take action today.

Washington’s $1 trillion war budget leaves no room for peace

The Pentagon budget for the 2026 fiscal year will likely top $1 trillion, even as health care and other vital services face drastic cuts. Still, Congress is calling for even more military spending to prepare for potential wars with Russia and China. Military confrontation with nuclear powers should be unthinkable. AFSC is a co-sponsor of the “Quakers Today” podcast, a project of Friends Publishing Corporation. Today, many people in the U.S. and around the world struggle without safe and comfortable housing. In this episode, you’ll hear how Quakers past and present have taken action to end this injustice. That includes the creation of Scattergood Hostel. With AFSC support, the hostel was a Quaker school in Iowa that became a refuge for Jewish children fleeing the Holocaust.
