Hi folks,
Last Tuesday, Mayor Kate Gallego delivered the Phoenix State of the City 2025 address.
Our key takeaway: We’re building a Phoenix for everyone—a home where hard work turns into success and every resident has a chance to live their dreams.
With our growing high-tech and high-skilled manufacturing sectors, Phoenix is creating life-changing career paths. We’re investing in infrastructure to support our long-term growth—and it’s paying off. In the past 5 years, wages have increased nearly 50%.
That growth is also visible across our city and in many of our communities—in ASU’s new medical school downtown, the Mayo Clinic’s expanding Phoenix campus, and TSMC’s nearly $165 billion investment in advanced manufacturing plants here in Phoenix.
We’ve shown what competent, collaborative government can accomplish.
With all this economic and population growth, Mayor Kate has also worked to preserve our water supply and increase housing production.
Phoenix has led the way on water conservation: Over the past 30 years, per-person use has been cut by 30%, and we’ve reached our goal—five years early—of reducing per capita use to 155 gallons a day. Now, our city is investing in advanced purification to more efficiently use the water we have.
Phoenix has also tackled its housing shortage head-on. Five years ahead of schedule, we reached our goal of developing or preserving 50,000 homes. Now, we’re getting ready to launch the Housing Trust Fund to help provide the resources needed to house our working families.
