Friend —

We’ve got a deadline tomorrow night, at midnight. And before that hits, I’m hoping you might be able to chip in and help me hit my fundraising goal for May.

Here’s why: I hear a lot of people tell me they’re losing hope these days, and I understand why. It feels like Trump’s winning. But for me, I’ve never had much more than hope.

Hope as a kid growing up poor, looking for a way to help my family, to get out of that situation. Hope as a Marine in Iraq, watching my friends get wounded and killed, just trying to get home. Hope as a veteran, that I’d be able to get the help me and my brothers needed after we came home.

None of those things came without work, without effort. It was not easy. But they took a lot of hope, too.

And I’ve still got hope. Hope for my son, for my daughter. Hope for the baby Sydney and I have coming soon. I can’t give up, and I refuse to lose hope.

Donations to emails like these are the main way we cover the cost of the work we’re doing.

And with a new baby on the way, I’m going to be relying on emails like these more than ever. I’m taking time off to be a dad, and I won’t be able to do fundraisers or phone calls.

So, before that happens, I’m really hoping you could chip in so we can make up for the shortfall. It would mean a lot to me to have that peace of mind.

Please, if you can afford it, chip in $ASK or whatever amount feels right for you and help us crush our goals before our deadline at midnight tomorrow.

Thank you, as always, for your help.

Ruben
