Battle over Huntington Beach voter ID law continues

- The state of California is appealing ([link removed] ) a trial court decision that upheld the city of Huntington Beach's voter ID law. Last year, the city amended its charter to require voter ID in local elections. In April, a judge ruled the new voter ID law does not violate the right to vote. The state filed their notice of appeal yesterday. The law is set to go into effect next year.

New target in GOP war on voting: mail ballot grace periods

- The push to end mail ballot grace periods continues to gain ([link removed] ) ground with Republicans. It could lead to hundreds of thousands of legal votes being rejected, disproportionately impacting voters with disabilities, rural voters and seniors who prefer voting by mail.
