Honoring the Fallen
On Monday, we commemorated Memorial Day, honoring the more than 1 million American service members who lost their lives protecting our nation. I joined ceremonies in Burlington and Rochester to commemorate those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
We will always owe a debt of gratitude to these heroes who paid the highest price for our liberty.
Fixing the Mail
I continue my work to fix mail delays in Wisconsin. Delays stem from outdated zip codes that do not reflect existing municipal boundaries. For example, under the current USPS system, the Caledonia Village Hall does not have a mailing address in Caledonia but instead is listed with a mailing address for Racine.
Different municipality names can cause confusion for residents and carriers alike. This has resulted in misdirected mail, delays in emergency response times, higher insurance rates, issues with local tax collection, and more. I am working to fix it.
Listen to my previous remarks on this legislation
I helped introduce to instruct USPS to simplify and modernize zip codes to reflect current municipal boundaries. Last week, this important reform passed through the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform.
This successful committee action means that the bill is now eligible for a vote on the floor of the House for passage. I look forward to advancing this reform to help ensure that the mail reaches your mailbox on time and on target.
Manufacturing in Wisconsin
I visited ATI Forged Products in Cudahy, which employs hundreds of Wisconsin workers and was founded in 1905. ATI's facility features some of the largest and most technologically advanced presses in the world, used to make parts for jet engines.
Over the last two decades, the percentage of global manufacturing value produced in the U.S. has dropped from 25% to 15%. Meanwhile, China's global manufacturing value has increased from 5% to more than 30%. As the U.S. continues to compete with China, it's important for us to have high-tech manufacturing facilities based in the United States.
While at ATI, I had the opportunity to speak directly with employees about the ways they are innovating and producing important materials right here in Wisconsin. We also discussed the how Congress can help support manufacturing in America.

As always, feel free to contact my office if you have any questions, want to share an opinion, or are having trouble with a federal agency.
On Wisconsin,
Bryan Steil Member of Congress
