Folks, Before Roe v. Wade was overturned, I made it a priority to protect women’s reproductive rights in New Mexico. And after Roe was overturned, I watched with you as nearly half of all states in the U.S. instated or attempted to instate severe restrictions on abortion access. That’s had an impact even in New Mexico, where providers are treating folks from here AND those fleeing nearby states for care. The challenges have only intensified with Donald Trump in the White House. Following the Project 2025 blueprint, Trump is attempting to use an archaic 1873 law called the Comstock Act to drastically limit abortion access nationwide. I co-sponsored the Stop Comstock Act to ensure women can continue to access reproductive health care, and I’ll do everything in my power to protect access to abortion care and ensure no one is forced into government-mandated pregnancy.
