Congressional Art Competition Winner

Congratulations to Daniella Vargas from Brandeis High School for receiving first place in the Congressional Art Competition! Over the next year, hundreds of thousands of visitors will see Daniella's thoughtful piece, ‘Quinceañera,” as they walk through the halls of the U.S. Capitol.

On Memorial Day, I was honored to join EISD and The Compadres for Scholarships for their annual Memorial Day ceremony. To our fallen service members and veterans—your courage will never be forgotten.
Celebrating the 2025 Peter J. Salmon Employee of the Year by National Industries for the Blind
This week my district office celebrated Israel Bolivar for receiving the 2025 Peter J. Salmon Employee of the Year. This prestigious national honor recognizes employees who are blind and have demonstrated exceptional job performance. My office was glad to present a certificate to him and honor his great achievement.

Statement on Potential Changes to Joint Base San Antonio Under Secretary Hegseth
Joint Base San Antonio is very important to San Antonio’s economy and to many of you. I am working alongside city leaders to ensure that San Antonio is not impacted by the chaotic actions of the Trump Administration, which make us less safe and secure.

Bipartisan Bill to Strengthen U.S.-Caribbean Relations
I introduced a bipartisan bill last week that would improve the relationship between the United States and the Caribbean. This would designate the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) as an international organization with diplomatic privileges and immunities consistent with the International Organization Immunities Act.
