Friend --
Lately, a certain tech mogul has been keeping a lower
profile. But at Country First, we don’t let
powerful people quietly slip out of the spotlight—especially
not after they’ve caused serious damage to our democracy and
institutions.
Elon Musk announced he is leaving Washington DC. And today they
will be having a White House Press Briefing before his departure
(Wonder if the Press will ask Musk about his reported drug use).
Apparently, some folks are hoping we forget the
facts.
We haven’t. And we won’t.
Let’s be clear about what happened:
-
DOGE helped erode trust in democratic
institutions.
- DOGE cut federal contracts recklessly, harming farmers,
working families, health research —without any clear strategy
or justification.
- DOGE fired federal employees responsible for overseeing
our nuclear arsenal—only to rehire them after realizing just
how reckless that move was.
-
DOGE accounting is sloppy, inflating $8 million
contracts to $8 billion in their reports.
- And perhaps most damning: Elon Musk’s DOGE seemed
to be a highly lucrative business trip. Musk groups secured $600
million in federal contracts during his brief tenure with DOGE—while
he publicly undermined the very government issuing those
contracts.
That’s not innovation. That’s hypocrisy—and conflict of
interest at its worst.
At Country First, we don’t thank people for reckless behavior. We
expose it. We document it. And we make sure the public doesn’t
forget because a functioning democracy deserves truth &
transparency.
