A message from Council Leader, Councillor Neghat Khan
This week began with the shocking incident in Liverpool, and I want to take a moment to send our thoughts and solidarity to everyone affected. Moments like this remind us of the importance of community, compassion, and looking out for one another.
Closer to home, we celebrate Nottingham’s own Mary Earps, who this week announced her retirement from international football. Mary has been an inspiration to so many, and we’re proud to call her one of ours.
We’ve also seen positive developments in our city. Over £10 million has now been invested into improving the energy efficiency of more than 1,200 homes across Nottingham, helping reduce bills and carbon emissions (see below). And in Lenton, a new affordable housing development has officially opened, providing high-quality homes for families on our housing waiting list (also featured below).
These are the kinds of practical, community-focused investments that move us forward – and I’m proud to see them taking shape here in Nottingham. This week during half-term, there have been a number of activities and events across the city. I hope people have been able to take advantage of these activities and spend time with family.
On Thursday, I attended the final meeting of the D2N2 Local Enterprise Partnership, ahead of its migration over to the East Midlands County Combined Authority. I want to thank Elizabeth Fagan for her stewardship over the years.
Finally, this weekend marks the Jewish holiday of Shavuot which is a celebration of the wheat harvest as well as the ripening of the first fruits of the year. Happy Shavuot and Chag Sameach!

More than £10 million invested to make homes more energy efficient in Nottingham city
More than 1,200 cold and inefficient private homes across the city of Nottingham have benefitted from a range of energy saving measures worth almost £11m since 2021.
The energy efficiency improvements which have included fabric measure upgrades such as loft insulation, wall and roof insulation, solar panels and low-carbon heating such as air source heat pumps have helped keep people’s homes warmer and supported a reduction in energy bills.

Innovative affordable homes open in Lenton
A significant new housing development was officially opened last week at Prospect Place in Lenton marking the completion of 36 high-quality, affordable homes built by Nottingham Community Housing Association (NCHA) in partnership with Tune Homes.
Of the 36 homes delivered, 26 are for affordable rent and 10 for shared ownership, directly addressing local housing needs identified by the council. The new homes include a mix of two, three, and four-bedroom houses and have been prioritised for families on Nottingham City Council’s housing waiting list.

AI
Capital One and Enterprise fund Multiverse AI Academy in continued upskilling drive for Nottingham City Council
Nottingham City Council has enrolled 40 staff into a new AI Academy in an effort to upskill its workforce with the skills needed to deliver on an ambitious improvement plan for the city. The programmes are being funded primarily by an apprenticeship levy transfer from Capital One, the financial services provider whose UK office is local to Nottingham. Car rental agency, Enterprise, has also contributed support.

The Ibiza Orchestra Experience returns to Wollaton Hall and Deer Park this evening with a brand new Ibiza Anthems – White Isle Classics show!

The Sausage and Cider Festival returns to Nottingham for a spectacular day of festival fun!
