Friend, it’s only been five months – and already, this administration has pushed the limits of executive power to new extremes, escalated attacks on immigrants, and tried to dismantle our most fundamental rights. But through it all, our community has shown up — loud, clear, and unrelenting. Together, we’ve taken nearly 45,000 actions, fighting back against anti-immigrant policies and defending the dignity and rights of immigrant communities. Since January, we've welcomed tens of thousands of new supporters to our movement. Thanks to you, friend, our movement is growing. Here are just a few things we’ve achieved together so far in the last few months: We sued the Trump administration over its dangerous immigrant registration rule and submitted a public comment opposing it, backed by 7,051 supporter signatures. We launched Know Your Rights ads on bus shelters in Aurora, Colorado in April, reaching hundreds of thousands of people per week with tools and information to protect their rights. Together with the Tennessee Immigrant and Refugee Rights Coalition and a powerful movement of educators, parents, and students, we successfully defeated extreme legislation that would have deprived students of their constitutional right to a public K-12 education based on their immigration status. In May, NILC and our partners led a Lobby Day in Washington, D.C., opposing the harmful anti-immigrant provisions in the House Budget Reconciliation Bill. Several members of Congress attended, including Rep. Pramila Jayapal, Rep. Rashida Tlaib, and Rep. Ilhan Omar. Thanks to your support, we have published 45 vital resources since January – many in multiple languages – including a crucial guide to help families locate loved ones who may have been taken by immigration officers and at risk of deportation.
In the first few months of Trump’s second term, your support has been a powerful force in our work. Inspired by our community’s collective energy and commitment, we’ll keep standing strong against attacks on our communities and democracy. With gratitude and solidarity, Kica Matos President National Immigration Law Center
