The One Big Beautiful Bill Act

Last week, the House of Representatives passed my bill, H.R.1, the One Big Beautiful Bill Act!

Over the last four years, the American people have suffered one self-inflicted disaster after another – from the chaos at our southern border, to our crime ridden streets, to a cost-of-living crisis that decimated working families from sea to shining sea – leaving America weaker, more divided, and more vulnerable than it has been in generations. 

In November, the American people gave President Trump an historic mandate and unified Republican leadership in Congress to reverse course on these failed policies and their disastrous consequences. The One Big Beautiful Bill Act delivers exactly that: the greatest single investment in border security and national defense; the largest tax cuts for families and small businesses; the most significant commitment to unlocking America’s energy resources; and the largest reduction in spending in the history of the United States – by two-fold.

This bill is a generational opportunity to deliver the most comprehensive and consequential set of policy reforms in modern history and will give President Trump the tools he needs to make his America First vision a reality in the lives of the American people.I urge my Senate colleagues to take up our balanced reconciliation package – and only consider changes that further strengthens our fiscal reforms – so we can quickly advance this One Big Beautiful Bill to the President’s desk and deliver on our promise to Make America Great Again.

Our goals for the Big Beautiful Bill were:

• to strengthen our military and secure our border;
• to reignite economic growth and unleash American prosperity;
• and to rein-in wasteful Washington spending and begin the process of restoring the fiscal health of our great nation.

Before we could bring the bill to the floor, I testified to the Rules Committee to outline how unified Republican leadership in Congress is reversing course on the failed policies of the last four years:

Before the vote on the One Big Beautiful Bill, I debated the Democrats and EXPOSED them for OPPOSING:

• The greatest single investment in border security and national defense;
• The largest tax cuts for families and small businesses;
• The most significant commitment to unlocking America's energy resources;
• The largest reduction in spending in the history of the United States – by two-fold.

Debunking Democrat Tax Cut Claims

In an effort to derail our Republican momentum, House Democrats manipulated Congressional Budget Office (CBO) analyses by feeding selective questions about a hypothetical bill rather than the One Big Beautiful Bill. They deliberately used cherry-picked CBO analysis to spread the false narrative that our tax cuts only benefit the wealthy.

This is a smoke and mirrors tactic to try to deceive the American people into thinking that the One Big Beautiful Bill will benefit the top 10 percent at the expense of the bottom 10 percent. Ironically, the only thing Democrats are proving is that our policies are a massive success.

First, they’re not measuring economic benefits to low-income earners, they’re measuring federal resources distributed. For instance, there are fewer transfer payments to people on welfare if you prohibit illegal immigrants from accessing these programs and enact common sense work requirements to stop trapping people in dependence.

Second, when you allow Americans from every walk of life to keep more of their income, you lift millions out of poverty, just as we witnessed in President Trump’s first term. Democrats measure success by how many people are stuck on the welfare rolls; Republicans measure success by how many Americans are lifted off of them.

Taking Action Against Tariff Evasion

I recently introduced the Axing Nonmarket Tariff Evasion (ANTE) Act to prevent highly subsidized, state-owned entities from evading U.S. tariffs by setting up production in other countries.

For far too long, adversaries like China have engaged in unfair trade practices, cheated the American economy, and cost the U.S. millions of jobs.

President Trump understands the existential threat this global trade imbalance poses and has the political courage to address it head-on through his reciprocal trade policy, but Congress must do its part as well.

The ANTE Act will stop highly-subsidized, state-owned businesses from using third countries as backdoors to evade President Trump’s tariffs and help ensure a level playing field for American producers and manufacturers.
