John,

Today, Elon Musk announced that he was ending his time as a “special government employee.” During his 120-day tenure at the helm of his so-called “DOGE,” he spread wild anti-Social Security conspiracy theories, gutted the Social Security Administration’s staff which led to ballooning wait times, and briefly listed the SSA headquarters as “for sale.” No one will miss him.

But just because Elon Musk is gone doesn’t mean we’ve defeated DOGE. In fact, Musk henchman Antonio Gracias isn’t going anywhere―and he’s still leading the charge to keep replacing human experts at the Social Security Administration with AI chatbots. Gracias is a private equity billionaire who has spent Christmas with Musk. There is no daylight between Gracias and Musk.

Whether it’s led by Elon Musk or Antonio Gracias, the Trump Administration has been clear that its vision of “efficiency” involves Americans waiting in longer lines for less reliable information, so that the ultra-rich can get a trillion-dollar tax cut.

We’re standing up for the world-class service at the Social Security Administration that Americans pay for with every paycheck. Can you chip in $7 to stand up for Social Security?

Antonio Gracias is going to be running the show at the Social Security Administration. Trump’s newly confirmed Social Security Commissioner just told staff that he had to Google “What the heck's the commissioner of Social Security?”

MSNBC’s Jen Psaki had a report this week on how dire Social Security’s phone service has gotten, with a recording of an actual phone call to Musk’s chatbot: Screenshot of MSNBC's Jen Psaki show, with her between photos of Elon Musk and Social Security commissioner Frank Bisignano

This isn’t the system we pay into with every paycheck. If we don’t fight back now, we’ll barely recognize our Social Security system when Trump is through with it. Rush a donation today!
