Hi John,
You know enforcing accountability for the CBC is really important when Prime Minister Mark Carney says he wants to give the state broadcaster even more money.
Right now, the CBC costs taxpayers $1.4 billion per year.
That kind of cash could pay the salaries of 7,000 police officers and 7,000 paramedics.
But get this: the Carney government wants to spend even MORE of your money on the CBC and expand its powers.
Just before the election, the Liberal government said it wanted to spend about $2.5 billion per year on the CBC.
And the new CBC CEO is being paid about half a million dollars a year!
But the CBC doesn’t like telling taxpayers how it’s spending YOUR money.
In fact, your investigative journalist at the CTF has gotten back access to information requests from the CBC with dozens of black pages and blacked out sections.
(Spoiler Alert: Our lawyer will have more news on that soon).
As a long-time journalist myself, this kind of stonewalling by a big government funded media corporation makes my blood boil.
Going after the CBC is going to be a long hard fight. Your CTF directors are in the thick of the debate and your lawyers are getting ready to go to court. But here’s the most important person in this fight: YOU.
This is YOUR chance to stand with thousands of other taxpayers to enforce accountability for the CBC. When you sign the petition, you’ll be the first to know when your lawyers launch a court fight and when it’s the perfect time to bombard politicians with emails.
Will you sign the petition to DEFUND the CBC?
We, the undersigned, call on the federal government to defund the CBC and end its media bailout.

Thanks for fighting for taxpayers – it’s making a real difference.
Sincerely,
Kris Sims
CTF Alberta Director
