Reciprocal Research: My Take on Data Sharing
Dear Colleagues,
As we approach our 40th anniversary, we continue to be committed to our purpose around participatory philanthropy that addresses racial and gender inequalities. Given the ever-mounting authoritarianism in the United States and around the world, the Women’s Funding Network is mindful of how we engage in data sharing with our members.
As the Feminist Philanthropy Researcher at WFN, I’m honored to be in community with global organizations that are committed to advancing gender equity. My research approach is centered in a reciprocal, community-based lens. Data sharing, whether about outreach, finances, or grantees, is a collaborative relationship rooted in trust. At WFN, this approach is at the core of our ethos as a global organization.
While we hope to learn more about our members’ programs, we also hope to learn how we can be of service to them. Our interest lies in ensuring that members continue to see value in the Women’s Funding Network and trust that we enact an equity-centered approach to our work.
With that said, I am excited to continue the legacy of feminist philanthropy that supports gender equity movements and hope that you share that excitement and support of our member organizations.

In the United States, 1 in 4 children live in immigrant families and are facing heightened risks due to the rise of anti-immigrant policies and a hostile political climate. Beginning with the administration’s revocation of the sensitive locations guidance, which previously shielded schools, hospitals, and places of worship from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) actions, families are feeling more vulnerable and are avoiding seeking medical care, sending their kids to school, and otherwise engaging in their communities.
It is essential that funders committed to the well-being of children and youth respond to these attacks on the rights, safety, and stability of children in immigrant households. Join Grantmakers Concerned with Immigrants and Refugees' webinar to hear from movement leaders from across the country share the strategies they are using to combat these threats and create the conditions for all children to thrive, including those who live in immigrant families.

TIME released its TIME100 Philanthropy 2025 list, which includes Women Moving Millions’ CEO, Sarah Haacke Byrd. Read about Sarah and other influential people shaping the future of giving at a pivotal moment.
Groundswell Fund and Groundswell Action Fund announced a collaboration with Ms. Magazine—the launch of the Gender & Democracy series. This platform uplifts the strategies, victories, and stories of grassroots leaders advancing a multiracial feminist democracy in the face of rising authoritarianism. It also includes a special episode of Fifteen Minutes of Feminism with Michelle Goodwin, featuring Groundswell CEO, Yamani Yansá Hernandez.
Applications are open for The Fund for Women and Girls' new high school program, VOTE16 PA. Participants will collaborate with organizations and elected officials in advocating for a law that would grant 16- and 17-year-olds the right to vote in school board elections.
