Ed Martin, the former acting U.S. Attorney for D.C. and current
“weaponization” attorney for the Justice Department, attacked me by name
on Newsmax.

You might remember that I personally held up Ed Martin’s nomination for
U.S. Attorney. I could not in good conscience allow him to serve in what
is supposed to be a nonpartisan and independent prosecutorial role. He is
as partisan as they come. And as vindictive. And we were able to block
him.

For holding him accountable and defeating his nomination, I’ve earned his
ire. And in his new role in charge of the unit to investigate the
president’s enemies list, there’s a very good chance Ed Martin will come
after me.

As an interim U.S. Attorney, Ed Martin was a one-man wrecking ball —
threatening perceived “enemies” of the Trump administration, conjuring up
claims of wrongdoing to initiative investigations without evidence, firing
career public servants for simply doing their jobs, using the powers of
his office to deter free speech, and so much more.

Now, having been passed over for U.S. Attorney, he’s abusing the powers of
his new office at the DOJ to investigate Trump’s enemies and to pardon
January 6 protestors. As he put it, “No MAGA left behind.”

“If you’re somebody scummy and act scummy in public, like a guy like Adam
Schiff, who lied over and over and over again. If he had shame in his
virtues, he should be ashamed of himself, and we should be happy to say
that. Now, does that mean he committed a crime? We’ll find out. But he’s
lied over and over and over again.”

Listen, John:
I am proud of the work I did on Trump’s first impeachment and on the
January 6th Committee. And I would do it all over again, to hold Donald
Trump, Ed Martin, or anyone else in this corrupt administration
accountable.

But with Ed Martin in a high-ranking Justice Department position, more
attacks or false investigations against me would not be a surprise.

The Trump administration has no qualms about weaponizing the department
and investigating perceived enemies. They’ve made that clear.

Their attacks don’t scare me. But I’m counting on you to have my back as
people like Ed Martin, Elon Musk, and Donald Trump come after me.
