A panel of federal judges just blocked Trump’s tariffs, ruling that the President does not have authority to unilaterally issue tariffs.

While this is great news for our economy, this will likely only embolden Trump’s war on our courts. Just recently, Republicans snuck a single sentence into their thousand page budget bill that would limit the ability of federal judges to issue injunctions to enforce their rulings - the same mechanism judges are using to block Trump’s tariffs.

Trump has continually defied court orders, publicly berated judges who have ruled against him, arrested Wisconsin judge Hannah Dugan, and Senate Dems just introduced a bill that would end Trump’s authority over the U.S. Marshals who provide security for judges - in fear that Trump could have them arrest all judges in their protection with a single order.

Defend Our Courts is leading the fight to save our courts from Trump’s fascist ambitions, starting in Pennsylvania where Trump and his MAGA allies aim to take down three democratic state Supreme Court judges in their 2025 retention election. The outcome of this battle determines whether or not swing state PA will ever have fair elections again.
