It's Congresswoman Chellie Pingree. I'm writing to update you on what we're working on in Washington, D.C., because I'm deeply concerned.

Last week, Republicans in the House narrowly passed a devastating budget that will have horrific effects on the Mainers I'm so proud to represent. 

I'll explain, but first, would you consider chipping in just a few dollars to help support the Maine Dems? They're working overtime in every corner of our state to recruit candidates and volunteers and fight back against the same Republican extremism I'm fighting against in Congress.

Here's what you should know about this budget and how it will impact Mainers if it passes in the Senate: 

The budget outlines an $800 billion cut in Medicaid funding, threatening hospitals in rural parts of our state and endangering MaineCare, which 400,000 Mainers rely on. This directly attacks accessible, quality healthcare in our state, and the repercussions could be tragic. 

It also aims to end the clean-energy tax credits we achieved during the Biden administration. Our state is one of the most beautiful in the country (I know, I'm biased), and this budget jeopardizes the natural resources that make our state great. It's taking us backward. 

All of this to fund tax breaks to billionaires and corporations. 

It's fiscally reckless, morally bankrupt, and exactly why we need to elect Democrats up and down the ballot in Maine. We need leaders to vote against dangerous policies that hurt our families and roll back our progress.
